Food is Gold, So invest billions in it!

We can live without Microchips and Software, but not without food. Megacorps like Monsanto know this, and they are on a mission to eradicate poverty from the face of the earth (and, in that process, earn a bit of profit for their shareholders, which is their sacred corporate duty). In today's Hindu, P.Sainath gives us some idea as to how these visionary corporations will lead us to a happy and prosperous future: Fertilising profit, sowing misery

This article is a fairy tale. "they are on a mission to eradicate poverty from the face of the earth" Their mission is "Making Money". This is mission of the capitalist world, where we live.

Just browsed through Sainath's article, which does not address the root cause of the problem. As some one had mentioned, when farmers ask for fertiliser they are asking for poison. Chemical fertiliser/GM crops will pollute our soil badly and our kids won't be having anything left. Natural/Organic farming is the solution for this and farmers should make their own seeds and not depend on government for this. Once these are known to the farmers itself, then even goverment's support won't be required to solve the problem. Some corrupt officials may support Monsanto, farmers should start rejecting their products, understanding the real issues of agriculture.
