Here is the remaining part of the dialogue Had we "decoded" nature using a different set of abstractions, right from the very beginning of the development of scientific thought, what would have been science and technology like today? Or, were there civilizations which tried doing it, but mysteriously vanished without giving us any trace of their achievements? Is mathematics, which is the language of science, absolute? Can there be an altogether different "kind" of mathematics which forms the basis of an amazingly different interpretation of nature (or which arises from an attempt to interpret nature's "messages" in a different way )?
