Calicut University syllabus revamp - push for Free Software

2005-12-26T12:00:00

C.K Raju posted on the fsf-friends mailing list about how Free Software is going to find a prominent place in the laboratory practice of the CS and IT branches in the revamped Calicut University syllabus. This is indeed good news! At least a few engineering colleges in Kerala currently base all their lab sessions on GNU/Linux - but I am sorry to say, most students just do a login-vi-cc-./a.out-logout sequence and never get to feel the excitement associated with working on the computing world's richest development environment. I am thinking of writing a document titled `The Joy of Linux' which would give students an idea of how to have some `serious fun' with Linux and learn a lot in the process.
